About This Chapter
In this short scene, the kitten tells us that he's in love with a boy named Katori. He's been rejected by the boy before, and he knows that he has to do something before the boy's enemies find him. Katori, however, doesn't seem to know what to do. She's afraid that the boy has amnesia, which means that he can't remember anything about her. The kitten tells her that she'll have to go to the other room of the house, where no one can find her. She tells Katori that she doesn' t want to get into a fight with the boy, because she's scared of what he'll do if he finds out that she is in love. She also tells him that he looks at her suspiciously, and that he hasn't looked at her like this before. The two of them decide that they'd have met like this, and Katori tells the kitten that she should come to her house, because it's not like they're in love, even if Katori has no memory of him. But the kitten says that if they had met, he would have turned her down, because he was an idiot. He says that Katori is still calling him "kazuko," which means "I'm lost in love," and that she shouldn't be afraid, because even if the boy had no memory, he wouldn't have chosen to hurt anyone. But Katori says that she was just "another kitten" and that the man she loves didn't pick a cause for her rejection. She asks the kitten to stop crying, but he refuses, saying that he won't stop until his own memory returns.
