In this short scene, we learn that keisuke has been invited to stay at the home of a friend of his, who is also his father's daughter. Reluctantly, he agrees to stay and spend the night with her. When he arrives, however, he is surprised to find that she has not even invited him to stay with her, nor has she even invited anyone from her family. He asks her if she means to invite him over for a kiss, and she replies that she would rather not, since they have been going out together for four months, and that it is time for them to "talk about beyond that" . She then asks him if he wants to stay in Japan, and he replies that he does, but he does not know what will happen after they graduate from college. He then tells us that when he called his father, he asked him if his girlfriend was serious, and when he answered that she was, he was surprised to learn that she had asked him to follow her home if she went back to school. Intrigued, he asks his father if he can swear to his father that he is serious. When his father responds that he can, he tells him that he will swear to him over the phone, but that he must wait for him to call.
