About This Chapter
"Tomomichi Motoyama" The narrator introduces himself as an ugly guy who has just returned from summer vacation. He tells us that he was expecting a romance between him and a cute girl from the Kansai region. He says that the girl is too far away from home for him to call out to her, but he does have a solution for her problem: he can use her cell-phone. The girl thanks him for fixing her bike, and he says he'll be there in a jiffy. The narrator says that he's just trying to help someone in need, and that he doesn't have anything more to do with it than that. He thanks the girl for fixing his face, and the girl says that she's glad he did it, because she'd rather not have to deal with ugly people around her anymore. She's worried about whether or not she'll make friends with the girl, and she worries that she won't be able to find anyone nice to talk to if she does.
