About This Chapter
"Dongting Street," the narrator tells us, has become a hot-spot for people who want to know what's going on in the world. There's a rumor that a man next door can interpret dreams. Apparently, many people have gotten fooled by the man, who's called the "golden keeper" . The golden keeper is a guy who works at a teahouse. He's kind of a jerk, but he's got a plan: he'll beat the man up so bad that he won't be able to tell you anything about what happened in the dream. He tells us that four days ago he took a nap, and when he closed his eyes, he saw a "golden light" hit his face. It was like diving in the river of light, and then he saw "a spherical object" , and he entered it. He became a part of the "sea of people" who were watching a "drop of blood" which looked like a house bursting from the sky. The blood dropped in the water, and the narrator felt that something was under the water that represented "tERROR, PEACE, MADNESS, REASON, DESIRE, AND HOPE." The narrator feels that he was in an illusion, and they'll figure out the truth in a few days if it's true.
