This chapter opens with the announcement that the twenty-seventh meeting of the tetragon council will take place. It's the 27th such meeting, and it's been going on for 27 years. The narrator notes that there were fewer professionals at this year's meeting, but he hopes that eventually they'll be able to forget about the undead. He asks the schoolmaster if the dead man is still alive. The schoolmaster replies that he's not sure if the deceased man can move around or not. The master of the ninth realm sect asks the lord of the penglai if he'd like a meal with him. The lord says that the area is already part of his five realms' boundary, and he wants to stay there while he reports to the school master. He's curious about the peasants coming to the area, but they've all been annihilated. He wants to see if he can use his innate ability to use insects to defeat the undead man.
