About This Chapter
Act 20 opens in the middle of a skirmish between the city guards and a group of young punks. The punks are led by a young man named haoguang ghao, who tells the punks that he is a "fighter for justice" and a "seeker" who wants to study in the West. He says that once he gets his degrees, he'll return to the West to cultivate some land. The young man says that he won't get into university because he's "a seeker" . He also says that even farming is a form of "westernization" , which makes him laugh. He's eating a dough figure, which is made from glutinous rice, honey, and other ingredients. The dough figure is made with a lot of labor, so it's not easy to make. The kid says that the mountain is "the least value" from a distance. He asks how long he can keep following him, and the young man tells him that he hasn't paid him yet for the dough. He adds that the kid is "a benevolent man" both inside and outside, and that makes him even more interesting, and he says that if someone is beaten up by a grown-up, do they believe that a kid can help them? The kid tells the kid that he can't keep up this "prophecy" for long, because he wants to go back to school.
