In this short scene, we are introduced to a number of characters who have been introduced in the previous two chapters. The first introduces us to the conspirators, who are in the process of gathering information about the Mosh administration's plan to construct a "sky-racrimal" . The second introduces the protagonist, who is in the middle of a conversation with one of the officers. The conversation is interrupted by the sound of a bugle call, and the protagonist realizes that the bugle is alerting him to the arrival of the commander in chief. The protagonist asks the officer if he is all right, but the officer tells him that Adachi is not coming to see him.
