The chapter opens with a soliloquy by the Ghostbusters' leader, Shmooper, in which he laments the fact that his life has been so difficult. He compares himself to a "swooattendant" who has "missed as much as I have" . He laments that he has never been able to attend a class because of his "perfect swoop" attendance record. He also laments his lack of energy and his inability to "crack bye" , which means that he is "cracked bye by thee" by the ghostbusters' attack on him.
