The chapter opens with a description of the magical properties of water. The water dragon is described as a "mirror" of the hero, who has lost everything he has ever owned. He asks the girls to give him a tasty look on his face. The girls do not seem to recognize the change in the hero. He tells them that he used to be "real bristly" but now that he has become infected with "idiot germs," he is no longer as strong as before. He says that since he met the people, "fate's ah" . He wonders if they can begin to break away from the eight keepers of the universe and gather the nine roads that belong to the storm keeper.
