About This Chapter
The story opens with a famous car driver being asked who is the "best air gear unexpectedly" . The driver answers, "going fast is exciting, but dangerous" , and he goes on to say that the people who do not rush through life are the ones who win the race. Two years later, the same car driver does not make it home from the race after all. The narrator tells us that he is about to ask the same question. He asks the dog if he would like to see him break into the bathhouse. The dog says, "I let enough" and tells the dog that he will not do it again. He tells the boy that he has something he needs to do first, and the dog tells him that if he does not come home tonight, it is probably better if he did not come back the first time. He says that the only thing that gets him all worried about is that the spot on the river where he saw rika was like electricity running through his whole body. It was unlike anything he had ever felt in a battle, he says, and it made him choke up when he imagined what would have happened if he had landed on the concrete instead of the hot tub. The boy says that it is rude that people still expect him to be the sky keeper.
