In the middle of the second inning, Miyuki makes it to second base on a sacrifice bunt. Wakabayashi strikes Miyuki hard, but the ball flies out of the pitcher's hand. Miyuki is left on second base with a two-run lead. The captain decides to let Miyuki hit the ball down the middle, hoping that Miyuki will hit it into the gap between the two bases. The second baseman, however, is unable to move, and the ball hits the ground and lands in the vacant gap between Miyuki and the second baseman. The third baseman catches the ball and makes a nice catch, but Miyuki still has no runs on the board.
