The scene shifts to the outskirts of the city of Enogawa, where a crowd of spectators has gathered to watch the second round of the Ina-jitsu tournament. The narrator tells us that the spectators were surprised to see that the first round was won by a team that had not yet come together for the tournament. He says that there are only two schools left in the tournament, and that the two schools that have come together are seido and fuku-mori adachi-nori acad. Enogawa tells the crowd that he is sure that they will win the tournament because they are the only two remaining schools. He also tells them that the other team, inajitsu, has been defeated by teito and that they have had less time together to prepare. The crowd is surprised to hear this, but Enogawa assures them that he does not think it is because they beat teito, but because everyone is relaxed. He tells the spectators that he has come to toss the first pitch, and the crowd is excited to see him. He then tells them about the starting pitcher, furuya, who he says is taller than he thought and is nicer than he expected. He adds that he was the pitcher who pitched their last game single-handedly, and they call him eijun . He warns the crowd to be ready for a hot-blooded battle, and Enogawa says that he wants the tournament to be like the battle of the oke , or battle of shino . The chapter ends with Enogawa saying that he hopes that the tournament will be a victory for them and that soon they will be able to take over the whole country.
