The next morning, the coach refuses to even allow Dylan to practice with the team because he's too tired to throw a long pitch. Dylan's not even good enough to compete in a tournament, so he'll have to wait until the next day to try his hand at pitching. The coach tells Dylan not to worry, though, because he knows that Dylan is already a three-year veteran and will probably never get another chance to play. Dylan can't believe that the coach won't give him another chance. Dylan says that if he wants to be the best player on the team, he'd better be the fourth-best player. Dylan doesn't think that's a good enough reason to kick him out of the team.
