In the top of the third inning, akikawa has just enough time to get a single out, but he's not happy with the way the game is going. He's worried that the other team is going to catch up to them, and that they're going to run away with the game. He tries to calm himself down by saying that they need to be patient and not worry too much about the outcome of the game, because they'll have another chance in the future. But then he sees that the opposing team is getting a lot of hits, and he worries that they might be able to take advantage of the situation. He tells himself that he has to get on the basepaths first, because he can't walk either, and since he doesn't expect to be hit by a pitch either, he needs to be aggressive in order to make it. He sees another great play, this time from Hiroshi, who makes a great catch on a fly ball, but the ball drops in front of him, and Hiroshi is unable to catch it. The game is still tied, and the umpire is calling the game as if it's a tie. Hiroshi says that the umpires are going easy on the opposition team, and they've been hitting every pitch they can get away with. He says that he'd rather see them lose the game than have to go through with the strategy of shutting down the opposition's batting order.
