About This Chapter
The next day at practice, the coach talks to the players about their performance in the first game of the season. He says that the team is always looking to win the tournament, but that if they didn't have Chris sempai on the field, the tournament would have been "a mess" . The coach says that he can toss the team out of the tournament easily, but the players complain that they're not getting enough koshien for their efforts. He tells them that they shouldn't be complaining, because it's their last summer and they should be working harder. He adds that he's going to be a member of the team next year. He talks about how he never thought Sawamura was as good as he was last year, and how he hopes that will change. He also tells the story of how he finally got his passion across to Eiji, who has been paying attention to class all morning. Eiji is "more fired up" than ever before, and the coach says he'll have to work harder to control him.
