In the middle of the fourth, sawamura throws a wild pitch that splits the gap between the two left- and center-fielders. Tojo catches the pitch and hits a double. The third baseman tags up the runner on third and sends the runner home safely. This is the first time in the game that Sawamura has allowed a runner to advance to third without being hit by a pitch. He's also the first pitcher to strike out a runner in the second inning since the game began. The other two batters in the inning are also hit by pitches that go outside of the strike zone, which is a common tactic for pitchers to use to induce a hitter to swing at a breaking ball. This time, however, he's not allowing them to advance on a single hit.
