About This Chapter
It's the third pitch of the game, and Furuya's throwing hard. He's afraid of facing his enemy's head on. The count is one, and two, and he has a chance to finish the game with a fastball, but he doesn't want to do it. The third pitch is a fly to center, and the runner on first heads home. The runner on second heads home, too, and is followed by a runner on third. Furuya has a good arm, and that's why he's able to get the runner home on the fly. The umpire calls the play, and it's an easy one. The next time the batter comes to the plate, he'll get an extra base hit, and they'll have an easy time scoring more runs. They're setting a good example for the next team to follow, the umpire tells them. He tells them to take back one run at a time, and then they can all get back on the same page. They all agree that this is the only thing they can do for the team at the end of the tournament.
