About This Chapter
It's the middle of the eighth inning, and the high school team is back on the winning track. They've got two outs and a runner on second, so they're going to try to get a run on first. They don't want to give up yet, though, because they still have two more outs. Tetsu san says that he'd rather have the ball hit one-hundredth of a second lower than he did, but he can't do anything about it, because the batter was just a step ahead of him. Tamura chimes in, saying that the batter's first pitch was a good one, and that he didn't even try to hit it at all, because he was so close to getting the first pitch. He also says that it was a hair too close for him to miss, and he's glad that he was able to make a play on it. He's also glad that the coach was so nice to him, because otherwise he wouldn't have been able to hit the ball so well. The coach says that they'll have to wait until the last two innings to get another run on the board, and Teta says that's fine, he'll just keep fighting until the end.
