About This Chapter
In the fourth inning of the second game of the tournament, the sunglass girl is watching the action from the stands. She tells the captain of the school that the other team's pitcher has been striking out the opposing team. The captain tells the girl to stop watching the game and focus on the opponent's pitching. He tells her that the school's ace has not even pitched yet in the tournament. He also tells her not to come over to watch the game because the tournament is making or breaking for the school. He then tells her to scream at the top of her lungs until there is nothing left to scream about. A direct hit off the back screen of a home run gives the school a 10 point lead in the fifth inning. The school captain congratulates the team on their hard work. They are now scheduled to play the next opponent in the third round. The narrator tells the crowd that the winner will be announced shortly. The players of the team are introduced. The first player is a center fielder named Ninomiya. The second player is an exchange student named Hiroshi. The third player is Hiroshi's friend, a pitcher named Tomoyuki. He has an aura about him that keeps the other players away from him. He wants to learn everything about Japanese baseball. He throws three consecutive pitches in the exact spot where he threw the first one.
