About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a flashback to the beginning of the previous chapter, where Hiroshi and Miyuki are talking about how they're going to have to train for the upcoming season. Miyuki says he doesn't want to go to the training camp because he's tired, but Hiroshi says he'll go anyway because he wants to see what the other players are up to. The flashback shows Miyuki watching a tournament in which the top team is down four runs in the final minute. The other team is led by a pitcher named Furuya, who's pitching against the best high school team in the country. The narrator tells Miyuki that Miyuki's name is seared into the minds of all the players in the tournament because he was the one who threw the winning pitch in the last game. He says Miyuki has a chance to be the next great pitcher, but he needs to get better at it.
