This chapter opens with a soliloquy by the wanjian monk, Ching Chi-Xiao, who accuses Ming Yang of being a "deserving sword master" who is "so disregarding of righteousness." Ming Yang's father, Ching Ming, is furious at the monk for taking advantage of his son's misfortunes to persecute him. Ching chi-xiao warns Ming Yang to stop talking about nonsene and to "go to hell" with his son. He says that Ming Yang is destined to be "an ant" that can crawl only on the earth. Ming Yang responds by saying that he will fight Ming Yang even if he is seriously injured. He also says that killing Ming Yang will not save his father's life because Ming Yang has destroyed his spiritual sea, and Ming Yang can still save half his life.
