In this chapter, the young monk explains that he is hungry and needs to eat something good. He tells the king that he knows what he wants. The king has eaten all of his food and is afraid that the monk is robbing him. The monk tells him that his master, the elder of the martial house, has not been heard from for over two months. The elder has been in the palace healing the king. He says that although the king appears to have spiritual power, he is actually weak inside because he has not received any help from his master. He also says that the five fire ambergris does have some help, but it is too rare to find. He explains that if he knew how to heal the king, he would have been able to find him immediately. He adds that if the king had known that he had a way to heal him, it would have saved him from staying up all night studying and his hair would have started to fall out. It is the king's fault that he has taken the long detour. He asks the monk how he can clear the broken veins. He uses a fire needle to do so. The fire needle allows the monk to quickly direct the qi of the spirit and the yin of the yang. He then asks the king to give him his throne as a reward for his services.
