In this chapter, the swordsmanship of Snow and Snow's grandfather are revealed. The grandfather tells Snow that he saw the former home of the family in the forest, and that his father left the area when he was seven years old. When his mother died, the bastard child was taken in by the grandfather, and the family fell into the hands of the enemy. After the entire family is exterminated, the grandfather's father becomes depressed, and goes out to the family each year to pay their annual homage.
