This chapter opens with a discussion between the great elder and his son-in-law. The elder wants to be made the new patriarch of the family, and he wants to know whether or not the young master will do his best to collect wealth for the family. The young master replies that his first goal after becoming the patriarch is to accumulate wealth. He also says that if the family has a lot of wealth, then his days will be better. He hopes that the elder's words will come true and that the family will have enough wealth to provide pills for distribution. He says that he hopes the elder will be able to gather enough wealth so that he can become the patriarch. He then asks the elder if he has gone mad, and the elder replies that he has not gone mad. He adds that the younger master is too arrogant to be the patriarch, because he is only a trash who has only a "grade one" martial spirit. The younger master replies by saying that he will defeat the elder and prove that he is not trash. He tells the elder that if he dares challenge him, he will pay a heavy price in blood.
