About This Chapter
The narrator returns to the station and asks the man where he is going. The man replies that he has things to do. The narrator asks him what happened to Asahina and the man says that she came to see him. He tells the narrator that he was going to use the money to buy a new car, but that he now wants to spend it on a soap-shop. The boy asks the narrator to come spend the money with him and the narrator says that he is not going to buy any new things. He asks the boy to go and check out the street where they are shooting a movie, and the boy says that they are just kidding around. He then asks the young man to tell him the story of how he fell in love. He says that the moment he saw him, he knew that he could be with him next year too. The young man tells him that he had come to the shrine to pray, and that he knew asahina would be leaving him soon. When the boy asks if he can get the money back, he says that sometimes he just doesn't get him, and so he wants to make it legal for polygamy in Japan. He also tells the boy that he needs to move forward in his life, and he asks him to clap for making polygamy legal in Japan
