In this short scene, Hiroshi tries to convince himself that he has a chance of winning the love of Akatsuki, even though she is clearly not in love with him. He tells himself that it is better to lose what he has than to lose everything. Hiroshi then tells us that he joined the track team to get Akitsuki to like him, but it didn't work out so well. Even if Hiroshi broke a world record in the 100m dash, he would still be out of luck if he tried to win her over with his speed. He says that he will stay with the team and work on his technique.
