When Tosuko asks why he hasn't improved his chi, Tosuku says that he's not strong enough to fight. He's been fighting lions, tigers, and other fearsome creatures, and he can't get any of them back. He says he'd rather be a girl than a man, and that's why he got into the fight in the first place. He tells her that they're going to be "both have nothing" , and they should keep going together as far as they can go.
