This is a locked chapterChapter 90: The Fruits of His Training
About This Chapter
In this short scene, the audience is introduced to the young protagonist of the play. He is introduced as a young man who has been trained by his grandfather to be a skillful player. The protagonist asks his grandfather if he can do anything he wants in life. The grandfather tells him that he has the answer to all of his questions. He tells the protagonist that the answer is in his hand. The young protagonist asks the grandfather if this is exactly what he thinks it is, and the grandfather replies that it is. He says that the protagonist has figured out a way to use his left arm to attack the opponent with his right hand. This is the "magia erbea" technique, which the protagonist uses to attack opponents with his left hand. When the protagonist asks why he is using this technique, the grandfather says that he does not like it because he feels like he is copying his grandfather. He adds that he would like to see the protagonist master this technique because he knows that life is pretty in the time he comes from. The two men discuss the problem of how to use their left hand to attack with their right hand, but the protagonist says that this is too difficult a card to handle, and that they need to figure out a new strategy. He asks the protagonist to give him the "swish" , which is a trick he uses to draw the opponent's attention away from his own weakness. He then asks him to hand over the trick to him, and when the protagonist refuses, the protagonist tells him to shut up. He goes on to say that the trick will not last very long, but that he can see that the opponent has used the same technique to attack him with his sword.
