About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the two of them are enemies, and that they have sworn an oath never to be friends. In fact, they're so close that they can't even stand each other. They're enemies, they say, and they'll never be friends, even if they have to fight each other for the rest of their lives. In other words, they don't really like each other, but they've got to live with it. The two men argue about whether or not they should be friends or not, and then they start talking about the hot springs in Niseko, Japan, which are supposed to be "baths" with strangers. It turns out that the country doesn't allow strangers to bathe in its hot springs, so it's kind of weird that they'd be talking about bathing with strangers in a country where bathing is taboo. But then the two men get back to talking about how awesome it would be if they could all go swimming together in a hot spring together, which would be cool, but then they get into a heated argument about how weird it is that they all have to go swimming at the same time. Finally, they get to the point, and the two guys start arguing about how cool it is for them to all be swimming together. They get back into it, and finally they get back at each other again, and this time, they start arguing again. This time, it turns out, they both have doubts about whether they are really friends, and if they are, why are they talking about it at all? The two guys finally get to a point, where they start to argue again.
