The chapter opens with the protagonist's declaration that he has come full circle in his life. He says that even though he has tried many different things, he has never been able to live up to his ideals. He tells us that he knows someone who came to Japan and tried to be "sophisticated" after moving there, but the man was a fool. The protagonist says that he's read a lot of manga, but that his favorite is Osamu Tezuka's "Hayate and Negima." The protagonist then tells us about his life in Coun, Japan, and how he prefers women with long hair to women with short hair.
