About This Chapter
Oishikawa, a comedy house, has a booth in front of which are advertisements for voice actors. The narrator explains that the voice actors are looking for someone who has a voice like that of Meru, who has an extreme speech impediment. She has been unable to speak since she heard her voice recorded in school. She is now six feet tall, and the narrator says that she would be a great voice if she could speak like that. He says that he's heard of voice actors before, but he has never heard of a voice actor auditioning for a voice role. He also says that they've assembled a crowd of people who are willing to pay to have their voices heard. He adds that he has always wanted to be a voice actress, and that he would love to be one of them. But he says that none of them are exactly what he is looking for, and he wonders why they don't give voice actors a chance to audition for Meru. He thinks that they could use all of them and have them audition for her voice. Everyone agrees that this is a good idea, and they all agree that it would be better if they all tried to read the book together.
