About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the buddhists release fish and other animals during a festival. The narrator tells us that the festival is meant to be a time to "tune things out" and to "overlook mistakes and failures" . He then introduces us to a family who are also enjoying their fortunate life. They are also aware of the importance of "tuning out" life, but they do not do so during the festival. They do so even when they discover that their husband is cheating on them. They also notice that the vegetables they eat are not from the food section, but from the ignored "food" section. They wonder why the narrator has used them as an example of how to tune out life. He tells them that even when he discovers his husband cheating on her, he still tunes it out. He draws a picture of the vegetables and says that he will expose the "producers" of the world.
