In this chapter, the Governess tells her granddaughter that she's too fat and needs to eat more. The Governess also tells her that her grandfather has been nice to her lately, and she wonders if he already knows who she is. She tells him that she told him when she was kidnapped, but that she forgot to tell him. She says that she hopes that he'll let her go, since she'll be able to help her grandfather master the family business. She also tells him to forget about her birthday party the next day, since it's not a good idea for her to go back to the long family. She asks if she can call on her grandfather when she sees him later, but he doesn't answer her calls lately. She wonders why he didn't just stop her from entering the house. He said he'd give her a stake in the Beiming group, but never mentioned it to her again. She's still not valued by the Long family, she says, and everyone can bully her. She wants to stay in the family, but she can't because her grandfather and her grandfather don't get along. He wants to protect her, she thinks, because he's bored, and he still cares for her.
