The scene opens with Beiming flees the room. He tells Lockwood that he is going to kill him. Lockwood is shocked and asks him what he wants. Lockwood tells him that he wants to kill Lockwood's wife. Lockwood says that he doesn't want to kill his wife because she is his beloved niece. He says that if Lockwood kills her, Lockwood will make his life "a living hell" . If Lockwood kills his wife, Lockwood says, then Lockwood will have to live with the consequences of his actions for the rest of his life
