In this chapter, we learn that Cuifan and Longshanshan's relationship is not working out. Cuifan is in love with Longshan, and he's loyal to him. Longshan is worried about Cuifan's feelings for him, but Cuifan assures him that he'll be loyal to Cuifan no matter what happens. He tells Longshan to shut up and forget about Longshan. He's also worried that Longshan might be suspicious of Cuifan because Cuifan doesn't have a legitimate child of his own. So long as Cuifan supports Longshan and supports Cuifan, Cuifan won't be worried about his own child. He asks Longshan if he likes him, and she tells him that she does. She also tells him to tell Cuifan that she's not afraid of him, because she knows that many girls like Cuifan. She promises to convince Cuifan to marry her, and they go off to meet some more of her friends. When she gets back, she learns that Miss Cunegonde is in the police interrogation room. She's been refused entry to the interrogation room by the superiors of the police. She asks Cuifan if he'd like to see her alone with her, but he refuses. He also tells her that her father is in a coma, and that she shouldn't get involved in the family drama.
