In this chapter, Mingke pushes Aunt Marthy down the stairs, and Mingke slaps her. When the doctor examines her, he finds that she has only minor injuries, and that she is in a good state of health. Mingke asks to speak to his grandfather, and he tells him that he saw Mingke push his aunt down and that he slapped her. He asks his grandfather to come and see his aunt, but his grandfather refuses, saying that he has to go back with him. He tells Mingke that he will kill him if anything happens to his aunt again
