In this short scene, the narrator tries to apologize to his sister-in-law, whom he calls "coco" , for the mess she's made in the past week. He also apologizes for being so loud the last time he spoke to her, and he hopes that this time he'll be able to deliver a better speech. The narrator thanks the editor of Children's World for introducing him to "leaf," the new kid on the block. He's also grateful for the money he's earned from working as an anchor for the site. He doesn't want to return to the "empire garden," but he does want to earn some money for his next year's tuition. He tells her that he and her family are going to a New Year's Eve party, and that he'd like to take a drink with them. He says that he can easily drink all of them, even though they're all drunk.
