The next morning, the old man is still angry with his wife. He tells the young man that he will not allow him to marry his granddaughter. The young man, however, refuses to listen to his father's threats. The old man tells him that if he does not marry the young woman, he will have to go back to his own country. He also tells the man that the marriage will not take place until after the new year.
