This chapter opens with a soliloquy by a young woman who is walking alone in the garden. She tells the narrator that she is not lonely and that she enjoys a private walk. The young woman is chiyuki, and she is walking at a "relaxed pace" . She is not moving her body in any way. The narrator is shocked at how well she is portraying her role. He tells the young woman that he thinks she is a good model and that he can see her becoming a "popular model in japan" by her skill, analysis performance, and aura.
