The chapter opens with a conversation between a young man named Yonada and a young woman named Ayano. Yonada asks Yonada what kind of tea he likes, and Yonada replies that it's black tea. He then tells Yonada that he's decided to train Yonada to be a pattern maker. The young man, however, is confused by Yonada's question. He thinks Yonada is trying to tear him and Tsucchi apart, but Yonada assures him that they're not trying to do anything. He explains that he still has time to polish his skills as a designer, and that he should just draw designs and negotiate with them. The two men then discuss the different branches of Aphro, the Japanese clothing company. The first branch is for men, the second is for young people, and the third is for women
