In this chapter, the young protagonist is introduced to the world of the fashion designer. He has just graduated from high school and is now working as a patternmaker for a Japanese clothing company. He tells his boss, Hayami San, that he wishes he had gone to college earlier because he would have learned all the sewing skills he needs to be a successful pattern maker. Hayami tells him that he has long eyelashes and that his shirt is too cheap. He also tells him about how Hayami's boss, Chief San, is always in the room and always talking. He says that Hayami is also very arrogant and does not know his place in the fashion world. When Hayami says that he does not get him, the protagonist says that she does not trust people like him. She is the daughter of a shoe designer who went bankrupt because her shoe brand was not doing well. She got a job as a fashion designer with her father's help. She had a disastrous first fashion show, and she was assigned to Chief San after she finally escaped from her father. The protagonist tells Hayami that he will do his best with clothes and that he is sorry that he did not succeed with his shoe brand.
