About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that Krook and the rest of the gang are going to live on the island until the day they die. Krook tells us that he's going to be out cleaning the tower and not guarding it. He says that he doesn't see anything wrong with the eldians, but that they are breeding again. He also says that they have a special ability to become warriors, and that he can do it. The gang teases him that they'll leave him with them tonight, and he says that's fine, because he'll understand what they're trying to do for him. He adds that he wants to become a marleyan warrior, and says that all of the stories about eldian culture are just "told up to serve" marley. He thinks that maybe they could keep him company for a while, and then he'd join them as a warrior. He's pretty good at it, he says, and the plan is going to fail if they can't get zekea to be a part of the plan. They'll have to find a way to get him involved in the next plan to take over the island as a leader of the warriors. He tells the gang that he wanted to become one of the marleyans' warriors so that he could learn the secrets about the titans. He explains that he heard that a traitor was working for the island of marley, so they've been meeting every night to find out what the traitor was up to. They all know that he was only killed because of the crazy world in which they live. They want to take him back to the island so that they can kill him, his grandparents, and his aunt and uncle. They also want to kill him because he was a smart boy, and because he lived with his wife and had a child. He was just a fool, they say.
