In this short scene, Levi explains that he has been assigned to the special operations squad of the corps, which is located far from the river and the wall. They are there to restrain him when he uses his titan power if he goes out of control. He says that he thought he would not take orders from anyone, but that he heard that before he joined the corps he was a "hooligan" in the underground market. Some people say that commander Erwin brought him in to the corps. Levi says that on one hand, the "maria recovery route" that they sacrificed so much for was sealed off instantly. On the other hand, he says, the route is still hard for him to believe, but he wonders what happens when he becomes a titan. He tells the story of how he cut the head off of a three-meter-tall, ten-foot-long, class-i.e., the size of a human. He compares it to the pain he felt when he sliced open the heart of a bean. He adds that he is going to do the same thing with the severed arm.
