About This Chapter
According to the patrons at the bar, the tall man claimed to be the one who started the rumor that the police were killing civilians. They don't know what happened, either, but they do know that they won't be able to get the story out before the newspaper article is published. The tall man says that the woman he killed must have been a "kind" person, but that he couldn't have killed her because his hands are already "dirty" . He says that he's sorry that she hesitated, but he was able to "pull the trigger" because she was "much more human" than him. He's not sure why the survey corps would want to kill civilians, since they're in the way. He also says that both of the 104th recruits from the military police have been assigned to look like the police. They're still alive, he says, and he'll be more effective than the disguised soldiers.
