About This Chapter
In this short scene, we get a brief glimpse of what it's like to be trapped in the wreckage of the Leviathan. We're told that the tower is coming apart, and that the officers who died in the battle didn't really die for the sake of saving the lives of the other soldiers, but for their own selfish reasons. It's not clear whether the officers' deaths were motivated by their desire to save the soldiers, or if they were motivated simply by the desire to kill themselves. We also learn that the officer who drank the whole bottle of wine they took from the tower was a gas-guzzling creature, so he's definitely not the only one in the tower who's running out of gas. The other officers aren't even sure if they're going to make it out of the tower alive. They're also not sure whether the sun will rise, so they'll have to wait for the sun to rise before they can save daz. This is the first time we've heard anyone say that they don't plan to die, and we're not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. It turns out that the other officers weren't actually killed for saving the soldiers' lives, but they were just trying to do the right thing. The only reason why they'd want to do this is because they wanted to be seen as heroes, and they wanted the other men to think that they were heroes, too. It doesn't make any sense to us that they would do this, especially since they were supposed to be saving daz's life. We find out that this isn't a good idea, because it
