The soldiers are shocked to find that Maria has appeared on the walls of the city. They pray that she will protect them from the "titans" and that they will not be destroyed by them. They decide to go outside and look for the female titan, but they realize that they have no way to get to her. The soldiers decide to split up into two groups, one to go after Maria and the other to look for Nestor. Nestor tells the soldiers that he remembers when they were young and he remembers how they used to look at him like he was a bad liar. He tells them that he will never forgive them for what they did to him.
