Alek and the rest of the Volscians talk about how tired they are from the battle and how they're going to have to choose between joining the survey corps or the mp brigade today. Alek says he's worried about how many new recruits are going to join the army on a whim. The king has granted Alek authority over the entire army, so Alek can do whatever he wants with it. He tells Alek that the survey army has suffered a heavy loss in the battle, and that they need to find a way to get to the basement of the enemy's headquarters. Alek thinks they'll find some clues that will free them from the tyranny of the titans, and he welcomes the new members of the army.
