In this short scene, Rinehart and the rest of his men are still in the tower, and Rines comments that they are too late to get out of the way of the advancing enemy. He says that he would never have been able to do so, as he is always the first one to rush into a dangerous situation. He tells the others to gather up their weapons and prepare for the attack. He adds that if they do not do something, he is going to die, and they will have to go back to their hometown. They decide that they will live through the battle, and then they will go back home. They are interrupted by the sound of a horse's hoof.
