About This Chapter
In this chapter, the owl tells the rest of the story of how the soldiers ran away, and how the giant owl crushed their ships and threw them into the sea. The owl says that if he hadn't pressed the truth about the eldia's connection to the marleys back then, he would have been the only one who remained alive. He asks the owl why he's still alive, and the owl replies that he is one of the people of ymir, just like the owl. He says that even the eldians know this, and that if the owl had gone on his little rampage earlier, everyone would have turned into a giant. Why is he still alive? The owl asks why the eldies hate marley so much, and he says that he hates marley for his fath, too. He tells the owl that he inherited the mission from him thirteen years ago, which seems to confirm the truth. The eldies, he says, are all connected to one another by something invisible. One successor of the eldians said that they saw paths, and they even carried memories and wills to act. This is the real truth, says the owl, because there's no truth in the world. The only thing that marley brought to ymir was wealth, and if that were the truth, there would be no strands of marley's hair left on the planet. Even if he had asked dina to become a giant, he wouldn't want to do it, because he didn't have the strength to save the other elddies' lives. The man who fed his sister to dogs was just eaten by the owl . He was trying to make sure that the owl stayed off of the wrong path, but his son had no information from him. There is still information he hasn't told the owl yet, but he says he'll tell it to the owl when the time is
