About This Chapter
The Governess tells the Governess that the ritual has not yet been completed. She tells him that lightning bolts and earthquakes have struck the area, and that the ground has melted away. She asks him to stay safe, but he refuses to tell her what has happened. He tells her that one of the caster's powers is going to be blown up to set off a series of lightning bolts. He then tells her to look down on the ground and see if there is any sign of a volcano on top of it. He says the ground is "melted right out from underneath them," and that he guesses that it is "fate" that is making the earth melt away. He asks her to break the ritual, but she refuses to listen to him. She then tells him to stop talking about the girl he likes made good coffee, which she says is what the ritual is all about. She says that humans do not use the life-maker's power on their own, but that if they lose, then they will know.
